About this property

Welcome to Westwood Park Hotel

Housed in a traditional former coaching inn on Salop Road, the Westwood Park Hotel offers straightforward accommodation with practical amenities. Guests can enjoy unfussy rooms, many featuring en suite facilities along with tea and coffee-making supplies. The property includes a welcoming bar area with a pool table, jukebox, and darts, creating a relaxed atmosphere for evening socializing.

Located within a short walk of Welshpool town centre, the hotel is well placed for visitors looking to explore local attractions such as the Powysland Museum and the National Trust's Powis Castle and Garden. Outdoor enthusiasts will find the nearby Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway and the Stiperstones hills accessible for day trips. The location also benefits from convenient access to several airports within roughly 1.5 hours by car or transit.

The Westwood Park Hotel is well regarded for its clean rooms and hearty breakfasts, which cater to a range of preferences including full English and vegetarian options. Family-friendly service options are available, and the establishment can accommodate motorcyclists with secure parking at the rear. Reviews highlight attentive and accommodating staff who contribute positively to the overall experience.

While the hotel features a lively pub environment that appeals to guests seeking a local drinking spot or casual entertainment, this might not suit those looking for a very quiet stay. The modest parking capacity is functional but limited. The property generally suits travelers interested in a central base with a mix of local character and practical comforts, particularly groups, cyclists, and visitors attracted by the town's historic events and surroundings.

Just stayed at the Westwood Park four 4 nights on a biking trip. Cracking location to be based. Good off road parking for the 4 bikes. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you to Diane and all the staff.

Nothing was too much trouble and a group of six of us were so well looked after. Spotlessly clean and a fantastic breakfast each morning. We were touring on motorbikes and all bikes were able to be put out of sight at the rear of the hotel. Will certainly be going back.

Location to town centre, secure motorcycle parking, excellent breakfast, full English, vegetarian, or fruit, toast and jam and cereals, popular bar downstairs, very clean tidy rooms most with ensuite, all have tea, coffee and kettle. Very pleasant landlady, nothing was too much trouble.

Honest review: Good family pub and deserves a visit. I have never stayed here at B & B. Location is quiet but it’s nice. Worth the walk. You can expect sport on tv here and music videos. Pool can be played and has jukebox. Darts and dominoes too. Clean toilets, nice beer garden with stalls with seating and cover from the elements. Limited parking but all in all I never personally have to drive here. Good selection of drinks here and snacks on offer.

Stayed here for a weekend golf trip in the local area. Diane and her team made us feel very welcome and couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Rooms were very clean, breakfasts were freshly cooked and pub on site was great, short walk into town centre. No issues with noise from the pub, car park small but worked. Perfect for groups golfing, fishing, cycling locally. Already looking forward to staying at the Westwood Park for our trip next year.

We spent one night at the Westwood Park Hotel before we set off to hike the northern part of the Offa's Dyke trail. We can't thank Diane enough for her hospitality and assistance after we initially booked a room for the wrong night. Despite it being 1940's weekend in Welshpool and extremely busy, Diane still managed to fit us in by allowing us to use one of the bedrooms that the Hotel doesn't often book out. This meant we were able to start our hike on time with the rest of our group. The room and linens were clean and comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was top notch. Diane also allowed us to leave our car in the Hotel car park for the duration of the hike, which was a huge help. Diane and her staff really know the meaning of hospitality, and we will definitely stay here again if we make it back to Welshpool!

This is a wonderful small hotel with no pretensions but all the necessary amenities, plus it's clean and affordable with terrific breakfasts. One of the best things is the location, and as any traveler will tell you that's a powerful incentive. I stayed for two weeks without a car, and was able to walk or take the train (the station is within easy walking distance) absolutely everywhere I wanted to go. Lots of places to dine or shop for necessaries within blocks, and beautiful scenery and history to boot. Having a wee local on the ground floor is an advantage when you want a pint of an evening or to watch a match on the big screen, or just to chat with the affable landlords and staff or the neighbours. I'm going to the area again next year and will definitely make the Westwood my HQ. Book your stay at the end of September/first of October and enjoy the Welshpool 1940s Weekend, a terrific living history event!

Just had a fantastic weekend in this hotel. All 9 of us were on a biking trip from Ireland , we could not possibly have been made feel more welcome, appreciated and so well looked after. The hotel was spotlessly clean and breakfasts were fab. The owners and all staff were at all times, pleasant, helpful and accommodating. We will be back .... can't wait !
